My Aesthetic & Inspiration

I love to change it up when it comes to fashion and get most of my inspiration from 90s alternative fashion. I think my overall aesthetic inspiration is best depicted by my favorite fashion blogger, Luanna Perez, who I get a lot of my inspiration from. Her Instagram handle is @/Luanna. What I love about alternative fashion is the level of range it offers, having a little something for everyone. This is particularly true for someone who not only has a dark flair, but prefers to dress modestly, like myself. Alternative fashion from the 90s often consists of minimalist, loose fitted clothing that offers nearly full coverage, or at least can easily be tweaked to do so, and can still make a statement which is perfect for me as a hijab-wearing Muslim woman. For today’s look, I put together a distressed denim jacket from Easy Pickins, a retail store in Steinway that offers the latest trends at low prices, with a plaid shirt dress that I got from Forever 21. My boots are from Dirty Laundry, my hijab is from a small boutique in Steinway called Jasmine and my glasses are from Eye Buy Direct. I think these very simple and inexpensive pieces came together to create an outfit of a timeless appeal. Hopefully this is helpful to anyone with a similar sense of style but are looking to express themselves on a budget!
